Garderie Les Jardins de Midas is a Subsidized and Bilingual daycare that opened in 1994 and is part of a beautiful story! Coming from immigrant backgrounds, our parents wanted to start a new life in Montreal. By opening this daycare, their objective was to take care of children by offering a quality service in a warm family atmosphere. Over the years, the daycare has expanded and the family has grown! Now they have passed the torch onto us. Brothers and sister, we work together, administrators of this beautiful family heritage! Being parents ourselves, our goal is to highlight the values that our parents have transmitted to us; care, respect, communication and family! Garderie Les Jardins de Midas is a big family!
Having studied in the field of Early Childhood, we aim to offer children the best services in order to flourish and develop in a harmonious and professional environment. We favor an educational approach through play, where the child is free to make his choices, at his own pace and according to his personality. The educator supports the child through an open and democratic approach, in collaboration with the parents. The child remains our priority, and together we promote his development in the physical, motor, cognitive, language as well as social and emotional domains. The goal of Garderie Les Jardins de Midas is to prepare the children for kindergarten and beyond.

- Our opening hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the activities planned for each group start at 9:30 a.m.
- We do not charge a registration fee. We do not charge a fee to reserve a place for a child.

Environment, materials and educational program
- We apply Accueillir la Petite Enfance , the educational program of the Ministère de la Famille.
- The development of each child is valued and we work very hard so that all the children can reach their full potential.
- We plan weekly activities based on the needs and regular observation of each individual child. The planned activities are posted in front of the door of each classroom.
- Parents receive daily information on the online platform Planitou in regards to their child’s day, on the activities that were
accomplished, as well as photos that were taken. - Our educational program includes concepts of: early-reading and writing, language stimulation, mathematics, science, physical activity, music, art and dramatic play, as well as history and geography; all in a fun and stimulating environment.
- The activities, the toys and the materials are chosen and alternated when necessary, in order to follow the interests and needs of the children.
- The planned activities, whether they be accomplished alone or in a group, promote play and exploration.
- The children are provided many opportunities to learn through play.
- We have 2 outdoor yards: one with a play structure and a second one offering shade. In addition, we spend time outdoors during the 4 seasons of the year and during the summer months, we offer water play in our shaded yard.
- We have a gym which is a safe and spacious area to participate in gross motor activities throughout the year.
- We offer specialized courses to the children throughout the year such as Zumba, Yoga, Music, Science or others.
- The usage of television and other passive technologies is very limited and reserved for educational purposes and special occasions.
- We organise a minimum of 3 fieldtrips per year and the parents are welcome to participate with their families.
- An additional fieldtrip, a graduation ceremony and gifts are offered to the graduates of our pre-kindergarten classroom. (5 years old).
- The groups aged between 3- 5 years old visit the neighborhood Library multiple times per year, with the possibility of taking part in animated story time at our daycare or at the park, presented by library staff.
- We bake a special cake in order to celebrate the children’s birthdays among friends.
- We participate in the Energy Cube Challenge. In addition we’ve welcomed the Mini Cube Tour Bus (Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie) in order to encourage healthy life habits in children and adults, through regular physical activity and good nutrition.
- Shows and other surprises are offered to the children during the year, in order to entertain young and old (Magic show, Clown, etc.).
- We organize visits from a dental hygienist, firefighters, etc.
Health and Safety
- As required in the Ministère de la Famille Regulations, our staff receives a 1 st Aid Certificate including severe allergic reactions and a Criminal Background Check. Both are redone every 3 years.
- The ratio for children aged 18 months to 4 years old is 1 educator for every 8 children. The ratio for pre-kindergarteners is 1
educator per 10 children. - Meals and snacks are cooked at the daycare throughout the week. No catering service is used. Our menu has been approved by a nutritionist, is displayed and available for parents. Our menu respects the dietary restrictions of the children and a 4 week rotation is used.
- The procedure for allergies in children (e.g., food allergies) is clearly stated in the kitchen and in each classroom and is strictly respected.
- Educators are allocated additional time to do regular cleaning and disinfecting of the toys and their classroom.
- A disinfection machine is used by staff for toys and equipment, in order to disinfect them up to 99.9%.
- The daycare is cleaned and disinfected at the end of each day by a cleaning company.
- Staff and children wash their hands frequently: upon arrival, before and after meals, after a visit to the washroom, after blowing their nose, etc.
- Children and adults learn to sneeze into their elbows to prevent the spread of germs.
- Each child has their own bed and bedding offered by the daycare. Washing of the bedding is done by the daycare staff every week.
